Product Introduction
Silicon Iron: In the steelmaking industry, it is used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent. To obtain qualified chemical composition and ensure the quality of steel, deoxidation is essential at certain stages of steelmaking. Silicon has a high chemical affinity for oxygen, making silicon iron a strong deoxidizer used for precipitation and diffusion deoxidation. The addition of a certain amount of silicon to steel can significantly improve the strength, hardness, and elasticity of the steel. Therefore, silicon iron is also used as an alloying agent in the production of structural steel (with silicon content of 0.40-1.75%), tool steel (with silicon content of 0.30-1.8%), spring steel (with silicon content of 0.40-2.8%), and transformer silicon steel (with silicon content of 2.81-4.8%). Moreover, in the steelmaking industry, silicon iron powder is often used as a heatreleasing agent for steel ingot caps to improve the quality and recovery rate of steel ingots due to its characteristic of releasing a large amount of heat when burned at high temperatures. In the foundry industry, silicon iron is used as a nodulizing agent and graphitizing agent. Cast iron is an important metal material in modern industry, which is cheaper than steel, easy to melt
and smelt, and has excellent casting properties and much better shock resistance than steel, especially nodular cast iron, which has mechanical properties comparable to or even exceeding those of steel. The addition of a certain amount of silicon iron to cast iron can prevent the formation of carbides in iron, promote the precipitation and nodulization of graphite, making it an important nodulizing agent (aiding the precipitation of graphite) and graphitizing agent in the production of nodular cast iron. In the production of iron alloys, silicon iron is used as a reducing agent. Not only does silicon have a strong chemical affinity for oxygen, but the carbon content in high-silicon silicon iron is also very low. Therefore, high-silicon silicon iron (or silicon alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the iron alloy industry for the production of low-carbon iron alloys. For other applications, finely ground or atomized silicon iron powder can be used as a suspending agent in the mineral processing industry. In the welding rod manufacturing industry, it can be used as a coating for welding rods. High-silicon silicon iron can be used in the chemical industry for the
production of silicone products. In these applications, the steelmaking industry, the foundry industry, and the iron alloy industry are the main users of silicon iron, accounting for more than 90% of the consumption of silicon iron. Among various grades of silicon iron, the most widely used is 75% silicon iron. In the steelmaking industry, approximately 3-5 kg of 75% silicon iron is consumed for the production of 1 ton of steel
